Simpler 4-Axis Wire Machining
Mastercam X3 can handle multiple 4-axis profiles in a single toolpath operation. Window selection lets you identify the multiple profiles quickly and easily because Mastercam intelligently assists selection. Mastercam looks for the contours with endpoints closest to each thread point in the window. If you window chain multiple 4-axis parts that do not have corresponding thread points, Mastercam attempts to match each upper contour (XY) with the correct lower contour (UV). Mastercam X3 also helps you program tabs correctly the first time and every time--because the UV tab width cannot exceed the width of the last entity in a 4-axis contour, Mastercam displays the allowable range if you try to enter a value that is too large.
Automatically synchronize upper and lower rails
Autosync Rails, a new Mastercam X3 feature, creates geometry to assist with 4-axis wirepaths on solid models. Designed for parts where the upper and lower profiles (rails) need to be synchronized, Autosync Rails creates the rails at specific Z levels and adds proper branch lines to connect these profiles. The upper and lower rails are projected as wireframe contours with branch lines to create sync points (nodes) where the upper and lower rail vectors are not perpendicular.
